Gcmw Kunc, Osummiyi spark Iowa State s 80-43 win over NC A 038;T Associated PressVoters had the chance this election to break the highest glass ceiling in American politics by electing Kamala Harris the nations first female president. Instead, they returned Donald Trump to the White House, a comeback that relied on significant even somewhat improved 鈥?support among women. Some female voters on Wednesday mourned the missed opportunity to send a woman to the Oval Office and wondered when, if ever, it might happen. I am just aghast, said Precious Brady-Davis, a Black transgender woman whod just won a two-year term on a Chicago-area water management board 鈥?but her joy in that was tempered. I am disappointed in my fellow Americans that, once again, we did not elect a qualified woman to the presidency. Those who supported Trump 鈥?like Katherine Mickelson, a 20-year-old college student from Sioux Falls, South Dakota 鈥?said the race came down to values and to issues like the economy, not gender. Even Harris herself sought her place in history without dwelling on her gender. stanley kubek While I think a lot of women would like to see a female president, myself included, Mickelson said, we arent just going to blindly vote for a woman. stanley quencher Despite the history-making potential of Harris campaign, she wasnt able to expand on President Joe Bidens 2020 support among women to cement a win, according to AP VoteCast, a sweeping survey of more than 120,000 voters nationwide. Unlike Ganahl, who views Colorado election results as valid, even if she avoided questions about the national results, Lopez has said he believes Trump won the 2020 election. Dqph One student shot and killed on Georgia college campus WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. AP 鈥?A South Florida jury agreed Wednesday that a former Florida State football player acted in self-defense when he fatally shot one man and injured another several hours after he scuffled with his girlfriend. Travis Rudolph, 27, was found not guilty of one count of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder by a Palm Beach County jury, the Palm Beach Post reported. The 12-member panel also chose not to convict Rudolph on lesser offenses, including second-degree murder and stanley cup manslaughter. Rudolph was first arrested in April 2021 a stanley cup fter four men went to his home several hours after he fought with his girlfriend, investigators said. At some point, Rudolph armed himself with a semi-automatic rifle and opened fire on them as they drove away, killing Sebastien Jean-Jacques and wounding Tyler Robinson. Rudolph testified that the men were stanley quencher armed and shooting back at him. Investigators said they never found evidence of the fleeing men returning fire.Rudolph was Florida States leading receiver in 2015 and 2016. He left the team early to enter the NFL draft in 2017. He eventually signed with the New York Giants and then the Miami Dolphins. He also spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. The team released him after his arrest.
